An Adventure Awaits You At Adventure Aquarium
The one thing I love doing is going to an aquarium. Being able to see the different species and learn about them is a gigantic thing for me.
Adventure Aquarium when this first opened up I went there and had such a fantastic time, things have grown since then. There are so many new and exciting exhibits.
is just minutes from downtown Philadelphia on the Camden Waterfront and features one-of-a-kind exhibits with more than 8,500 aquatic species throughout two million gallons of water.
The Aquarium is home to the largest collection of sharks on the East Coast, including the only Great Hammerhead Shark on exhibit in the United States, the only aquarium in the world to exhibit hippos and one of only six facilities in the US to have Little Blue Penguins as permanent residents.
These animals are broken up into different sections or categories if you like.
Cichlids are one of the largest families of fish, with over 1600 described species. New species are discovered annually, and scientists estimate there may be as many as 3000 species. Many unique species of cichlid only live in Africa’s Lake Victoria. Unfortunately, due to invasive species and overfishing, more than half of Lake Victoria’s cichlid species are either endangered or extinct.
Cape porcupines, like the ones you can find on exhibit in our Hippo Haven exhibit, are the largest rodents in southern Africa, and one of the biggest porcupines on Earth.
Head to Adventure Aquarium’s Hippo Haven to meet and witness Button and Genny, two massive Nile Hippos (3,000 lbs each).
There’s so many more animals ill add a couple from the groups, but its so much better in person.
They’re cute. They walk funny. They’re flightless. But these little guys sure can swim. They’re African penguins, and you can find them at Penguin Island!
Ocean Realm is home to Loggerhead Sea Turtles, including everyone’s favorite: Bob, a female Loggerhead that can often be seen greeting guests in front of the viewing window
GREAT HAMMERHEAD SHARK
Adventure Aquarium has the distinction of being the only aquarium in the United States with a great hammerhead shark on exhibit. Although there are nine different species of the hammerhead shark in the world, the great hammerhead is the biggest.
The sand tiger shark is a large, slow-moving shark notable for its jagged teeth and menacing appearance. This shark looks fierce as it slowly swims with its mouth open and needle-like teeth exposed.
PACIFIC SEA NETTLES
These beautiful species have a distinctive gold-brown bell with reddish tentacles.
So many things to see and do, there’s a kid zone, a place you can touch a shark as well as places to eat. Endless hours of fun. Head on down to Camden New Jersey and see all the animals there are.
So many new and exciting things have changed , since the last time I was there, Cant wait to get back to Jersey to go and see all the changes.
