Mother’s Day is right around the corner, and most people are thinking of ways to show their moms just how much they mean to them. For most, that includes some flowers and a card, maybe a meal out. For the most part, mothers everywhere, love the gesture; I know from experience, that hearing that people understand all that it is mothers do, means so much more. It is exactly why I love this book from Allen Klein, Mom’s the word, a tribute to moms everywhere!
A collection of quotes, stories, wit and wisdom, that show the extent of a mother’s love. This book is broken up into 12 chapters, and cover everything from A Mother’s Love, Mother’s Day, Mothers & Daughters, and Mothers & Sons, to Becoming a mother, and Mother’s Work is Never Done. Each section has quotes and stories from people like; Michelle Obama, Rosanne Barr, Phyllis Diller, and Theodore Roosevelt, and even some anonymous quotes and stories. Proof that no matter what walk of life you come from, a mother’s love ties us together.
My favorite quote from this book is found in the section, A Mother’s Work is Never Done:
“No ordinary work done by man is either as hard or as responsible as the work of a woman who is bringing up a family of small children;
for upon her time and strength demands are made not only every hour of the day but often every hour of the night”
It can be hard to show mom how much you care, without resorting to the same thing every year. This tribute to moms is the perfect gift for Mother’s Day. Why not add in some of your own quotes and thoughts about your mom, to really make it special. Remind mom of some of your most special memories that revolve around her; I can bet that she will love reliving those memories with you.
This book has given me ideas on how to show the women in my life, what they mean to me. After all, I was a daughter and granddaughter first; I have to pay tribute to the moms in my life as well!
