Road Trip Ideas
Road tripping is one of the most popular activities of America. After all, we need a break from our busy lives to relax and unwind, and what better way to do it than go for a long road trip with friends and family! Not only can you spend quality time with loved ones, you get a respite from work pressure. Here are some of the best spots for road trips:
California State Route 1: This route travels through the complete length of the Golden State (almost), but the Big Sur portion, stretching from Morro Bay to Carmel-by-the-Sea is the clear favorite. Visit Hearst castle while passing San Simeon, and don’t miss out the lovely elephant seals. And a stop at the Big Sur Bakery is a must!
Route 66: It is perhaps the most widely traveled courses for road trips – The Great American Adventure is simply incomplete without cruising along Route 66. Spanning over 2,000 miles between Chicago and the Santa Monica Pier in Southern California, the highway has achieved cult status. You get to experience some typical roadside paraphernalia neon signs, old-school motels, rusty middle-of-nowhere truck stops, and outposts selling kitschy Americana wares. Visit Abiquiu for an archery lesson at the Ghost Ranch, the Will Rogers Museum in Claremore, Havasu National Wildlife Refuge for kayaking and canoeing, and the meeting point of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico and Utah, called the Four Corners Monument!
