1. Saona Island
Sao sand Island has many things to do, including snorkeling and diving. The clear waters of this island are home to a variety of fish, including parrotfish and angelfish. There are also beautiful coral reefs that are protected by the government of the Dominican Republic.
The beaches on Saona Island are also quite popular with tourists. Visitors can relax on one of these sandy beaches while enjoying the sun and sea breeze. There are also beach bars where you can purchase drinks while spending time with friends or family members at the beach!
If you're looking for something more adventurous, then you should consider visiting Saona Island's caves. These caves were carved out by waves over time so they have beautiful patterns on them which make them look like artwork instead! You can even see stalactites hanging from the ceiling inside these caves as well which makes them even more interesting places to visit!
2. Lake Enriquillo
Lake Enriquillo is one of the most popular things to do in the Dominican Republic. Located in the southwestern part of the country, it is the largest lake in the Caribbean and is located at an altitude of around 1,000 meters above sea level.
Lake Enriquillo was formed about 7500 years ago when a volcano erupted, creating an enormous crater that became filled with water over time. Today it covers an area of about 8 square kilometers (3 sq mi) and has depths of up to 100 meters (328 ft). The lake's maximum depth is 126 meters (413 ft), making it one of the deepest lakes in the world!
The lake is home to many different species of fish including tilapia, which are used for food by many locals living around its shores. You can also see birds such as flamingos flying overhead while you're visiting this beautiful place!
3. The 3 Eyes National Park
The 3 Eyes National Park in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic is an excellent place for nature lovers and those who enjoy hiking. The park encompasses a total of 690 hectares and is located in the Cordillera Central mountain range. The park has many trails that lead to beautiful waterfalls and streams. There are also some caves that can be explored by visitors if they wish to do so.
There is also a trail that leads from the park up to the top of Cerro de Punta, which is the highest point on Hispaniola island (the island where Haiti and the Dominican Republic are located). This peak offers spectacular views of both countries as well as the rest of the Caribbean Sea. The view from this vantage point is truly amazing!
The 3 Eyes National Park was discovered in 1916.. It was named after three large rocks that form part of its landscape, which resemble eyes when viewed from certain angles. The park consists mainly of primary rainforest but there are also some secondary forests within its boundaries as well as small patches of savannah vegetation on its upper slopes.
4. 27 Charcos
The 27 Charcos is a group of fresh water springs located in the northern part of the Dominican Republic. The name comes from the Spanish word “charco,” which means pond or pool.
The Charcos are located in an area of rich biodiversity, with a wide variety of flora and fauna. The main attraction of the park is its crystalline waters, which come from underground aquifers that feed into the ponds. The ponds vary in size and depth, but all have crystal clear water that is warmed by solar radiation and a constant temperature of about 26 degrees Celsius (79 Fahrenheit).
The 27 Charcos is a paradise for snorkelers, divers and nature lovers because it has a wide range of marine life including corals, tropical fish and other aquatic animals such as turtles and seals.
5. Bavaro Beach
Bavaro Beach is one of the most popular beaches in the Dominican Republic. It's located in Punta Cana, which is a popular tourist destination, so it can get pretty crowded during peak season.
If you're looking for a place to relax, this is the beach for you. Bavaro Beach has calm waters and soft sands, making it perfect for families with small children or anyone who wants to relax during their vacation. There are lots of amenities nearby too, including restaurants and shopping centers.
There are plenty of things to do in Bavaro Beach if you're interested in something more active than relaxing on the beach all day long though! You can go snorkeling or scuba diving in the beautiful clear water offshore. There are also guided tours available if you want someone else to take care of all the details for you!
What’s more is that, there's plenty of other activities available nearby as well – you could go zip-lining through the trees or parasailing over them or maybe even horseback riding through the jungle! There are tons of options available at Bavaro Beach – just ask around when you get there!
6. Zana Colonial
The Zona Colonial is a district in the center of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city and contains a high concentration of notable buildings from its colonial past.
The Zona Colonial was founded by Bartholomew Columbus on his brother Christopher's order in 1496. It was originally called Ciudad de Santo Domingo (City of Saint Dominic) and was intended as a trade center for Spanish settlers and as a military post for defense against attacks from other European powers.
Today, it is a National Monument and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with many well-preserved historical buildings dating back to the 1600s.
The Zona Colonial is home to several museums including The Museum of Modern Art and Bellapart Museum, both located on Calle Francisco del Rosario Sánchez (FDR). FDR is also known as “El Cacique” because it runs through the area where Tainos (native people) used to live before being destroyed by Europeans. This street is lined with restaurants, cafes and shops selling souvenirs and artworks created by local artists.
7. Teleferico Puerto Plata Cable Car
If you are in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic and you want to do something different, you can go to the Teleferico Puerto Plata Cable Car. It is a cable car that carries people from the city center of Puerto Plata to the top of the mountain, Pico Duarte.
The Teleferico Puerto Plata Cable Car offers stunning views of the city and its surroundings. At the top of Pico Duarte you can see how beautiful it is and also how small it makes you feel compared to nature.
The view from the top of Pico Duarte is breathtaking because it is like being on top of the world when you're looking down at everything from above. You can see all of the city's houses and buildings scattered throughout its streets and neighborhoods as well as other mountains that surround this area making it look like a giant fortress surrounded by many smaller castles around it.
8. Altos de Chavon
Altos de Chavon is a popular destination for tourists, who come to enjoy the arts and culture, as well as the beautiful scenery. The area has been home to artists since the 1980’s when it was established as an arts colony.
Today, Altos de Chavon is home to eleven galleries and museums that are open year-round. Visitors can tour these spaces on foot or by boat, which can be rented at one of several marinas in the area.
The town also hosts festivals throughout the year, including an annual international festival of music and dance that takes place in June. There's also an annual children's festival called Fiestas Infantiles de Altos de Chavon (which translates roughly to “Kids' Parties at Altos de Chavon”). The kids' party takes place in November and features a parade and other events intended specifically for kids.
9. National Park of the East
The National Park of the East is a great place for nature lovers. The park is located in the eastern part of the Dominican Republic, and it's home to many rare species of flora and fauna. The park has over 1,000 species of plants and over 200 species of birds. You can also see crocodiles, iguanas, and other reptiles while you're there.
One of the most popular activities at this park is hiking. There are several trails that lead through waterfalls and past caves filled with bats (and yes—they're still there!). You'll also see some amazing views from high up on rock cliffs overlooking the sea below them. It's not just humans who will enjoy these paths, dogs are welcome too!
10. Macao Beach
Macao Beach is located on the north coast of Hispaniola, and is the second-largest beach in the country. The beach is located about 130 kilometers from Santo Domingo, and offers visitors access to both beachside bars and restaurants as well as hotels and other accommodations.
The beach itself is divided into two parts: one that caters more to families with children, and one that caters more to those who want more of a party scene. The latter section has several bars and clubs along it, as well as restaurants that offer all types of food. The former section has a few small restaurants along it, but most of the area's attractions are on the other side of the road.
