According to a recent survey, the average woman spends $300,000 on her face over the course of a lifetime. $300,000 is a lot of money- and again, this is just on the face!

If you're looking to beautify yourself but you're on a budget, what are you supposed to do? Luckily, there are a lot of DIY beauty hacks that you can take advantage of that will help your face and your wallet look better than ever.

Check out this guide to learn about the top DIY beauty hacks.

  1. DIY Sugar Scrub

Sugar isn't just for your morning coffee- it can also be used on your face as a natural exfoliant. The great thing about sugar is that it can be used on both your face and your body, which means you get two products for the price of one.

When it comes to making a homemade sugar scrub, you have three types of sugar to choose from. These include:

  • Brown Sugar: This is the least abrasive type of sugar, and it's a great choice for those with sensitive skin. Because it's so gentle, you can also use it several times a week
  • Turbinado Sugar: This type of sugar comes in large granules and is, therefore, the coarsest type of sugar available. For this reason, it makes a great body scrub, but you should avoid using it on your face
  • Pure Cane Sugar: Also known as unrefined white sugar, pure cane sugar is good for all skin types and can be used on your skin and body 2 to 3 times per week

Once you've chosen the right sugar for your skin, it's time to make your DIY sugar scrub. We recommend combining your sugar scrub with a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil, hemp seed oil, walnut oil, or olive oil.

You can also add a splash of lemon and honey to your scrub for extra skin-boosting benefits.

  1. Honey Mask

If you're sick of wasting your money on expensive facials or face masks that don't seem to do the trick, honey is about to become your new best friend.

Thanks to its antiseptic and antibacterial properties, honey can combat acne-prone, inflamed, and irritated skin. It also has wound-healing properties, so it can make your acne scars heal faster. Honey also has moisturizing properties and it can even help combat symptoms of eczema.

When using honey on your face, make sure you purchase 100 percent, natural honey. If the honey isn't 100 percent natural, it'll likely contain additives and preservatives that can damage your skin.

All you need to do is apply an even layer of raw honey to your freshly cleansed face. Then, leave the mask on for 15 to 20 minutes before rinsing it off with warm water.

After rinsing, follow up with an oil or cream to seal in the moisture.

  1. Coffee Hair Mask

Coffee isn't just your secret weapon for getting through long morning meetings. Coffee will soon also be your secret weapon for thick and healthy hair

According to research, the caffeine in coffee can help stimulate hair growth and prevent hair loss. Coffee can also help:

  • Detoxify your scalp
  • Boost blood circulation in your scalp
  • Detangle unmanageable hair

But, don't just pour a piping hot cup of Joe all over your hair. Instead, we recommend combining one tablespoon of roasted coffee beans with about 1/4 cup of coconut oil.

First, heat the coconut oil on low on your stovetop. Once the oil starts to melt, add in the coffee beans. Make sure to stir the solution continuously so that it doesn't burn. Once the beans and oil are well-combined, remove the mixture from the stove and store it in an airtight container.

It's best to apply the coffee mask to your hair once per week before washing it. Allow the mask to sit in your hair for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then, rinse it out in the shower with warm water before continuing with your hairwashing routine.

  1. Brighten Your Smile With Coconut Oil

After you make your DIY coffee mask, make sure you hang onto that coconut oil, as you're going to need it for your teeth. Coconut oil can be used to clean your teeth and kill bacteria through a method called oil pulling.

Oil pulling is actually an ancient Egyptian practice that involves swishing oil around in your mouth to promote oral hygiene and remove bacteria. While the ancient Egyptians used to oil pull for 60 minutes at a time, you'll be just fine with three to 10 minutes.

In addition to killing bacteria, oil pulling can reduce bad breath, prevent cavities, and reduce gum inflammation.  Should these oral issues persist, it’s best to make your teeth feel good with dentist in clifton for professional treatment.

  1. Grow Beautiful Lashes With Castor Oil

If you're sick of wasting money on eyelash extensions, eyelash growth serums, and tube after tube of mascara, then castor oil is about to become your new best friend.

While it may take slightly longer to notice results, castor oil has been used as a tried and true eyelash growth product for years. Before applying castor oil to your lashes, you first need to clean them so that they're free of any dirt or makeup.

Then, dip a cotton swab into the castor oil and run the swab across your lashes. It's best to apply the castor oil before bed so that you can rinse it off in the morning and then continue with your makeup routine.

You can also apply castor oil to your eyebrows if you have patchy spots that need to grow out.
