Stuck indoors? Not sure what to do with yourselves? When you've got a whole weekend ahead of you and the clock is already ticking down to Monday, the pressure to find something fun and interesting to do is unbearable. You want to make the most of your limited free time, make some happy memories, look after yourself and have fun!
And when the weather is against us, or the kids are being a little testing (we've all been there) it's not easy to find something that ticks all the boxes. So, with this in mind, I've gathered 6 super fun things to do with the kids this weekend.
Enjoy!
Treat them to something new
Do your kids have spending money burning a hole in their pockets? Or are they just completely fed up with the current toys and entertainment they have at home? If this sounds familiar then why not update their toy chests or engage their creativity with some new toys and inspirational gifts? You can find out more about the latest toys and gifts for 10 year olds by clicking the link.
Go feed the ducks
When was the last time you all went and fed the ducks at the local pond? This simple, childhood tradition is the perfect way to get everyone out of the house, enjoying some fresh air and the kids can get to know nature a little bit more. You can feed ducks oats, peas, rice, grapes or even veggie trimmings. Just avoid bread where you can. You could even make your own bird feed mix and treat them! See how many ducks you can count and different breeds you can spot.
Make homemade pizza
Sure, ordering in is fun and exciting but it’s expensive and not always a healthy option! If you want something that ticks all the boxes then consider making your own pizza this weekend. You can either make the dough completely from scratch or buy the pizzas bases instead. Then add tomato puree or sauce. After this, let the kids go wild with their toppings! Cheese, pepperoni, pineapple (controversial), sweetcorn, peppers, onions, chicken – the possibilities are endless.
Break out the bikes
Hitting a local bike trail with the kids is fun and exhilarating. You get to spend some time together, get some exercise and work on your navigating and cycling skills. If your little one’s cycling skills aren’t quite up to scratch yet then let them take their scooters or ride-on toys instead. Take a picnic and make a day of it.
Go somewhere new
You may think that you’ve exhausted the sights and places of interest in your hometown. However, you may be surprised how little you’ve actually seen! A new café, a new museum or exhibition. What about that new park on the other side of town, or that area of the beach you haven’t visited since you were a kid? There are plenty of options!
Spend some time with relatives
When was the last time you saw an elderly relative? Perhaps they’re in a home, or they live quite a distance from you. Either way, make an effort and take your kids to visit. They’ll love the experience and you’ll wonder why you didn’t do it sooner.
