themed races that you will actually want to run

A themed race is a great opportunity to improve your race times and even try something new with family or friends. Below, we share six themed races that you’ll actually want to run.

The Color Run

Founded in 2011, The Color Run was the world’s first color 5K. Throughout the race, staff and volunteers cover white-clad runners in colored powder. Today, it remains a popular event—it’s an untimed race, which makes it perfect for first-timers. The Color Run partners with a variety of charities, raising money for local and national organizations. Want to race in a unique event and give back to the community? Register for an upcoming The Color Run event in your city.

Cupid’s Undie Run

Cupid’s Charity strives to end neurofibromatosis, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on nerves all over the body. They started the Undie Run because those affected by this rare condition can’t cover their tumors, which is why participants show their support by stripping down. Although an Undie Run sounds ridiculous, thousands of runners register for the mile-long party each February. After all, it’s for a great cause!

Blacklight Run™

The Blacklight Run™ invites runners of all experience levels to partake in three miles of fun. Similar to The Color Run, runners wear white clothing while people from the sidelines cover the participants in UV Glow Powder. Race participants want to be covered head-to-toe, so they can have a festive outfit for the electrifying post-run festivities. Also, each Blacklight Run™ spreads awareness of childhood cancer. The organization donates to local children’s charities, particularly the Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Sign up for a race near you, and feel good knowing that you’re doing your part to make a real difference.

Disney Runs

If you’re a Disney fan, we have good news for you: the Happiest Place on Earth hosts a wide range of exciting races each year! Whether you want to participate in a 5K or a marathon, there’s a runDisney event that will suit your experience level. Plus, these races are a fantastic way to explore the parks and meet some of your favorite characters. The next time you find yourself at a Disney resort, consider signing up for a race.

The Super Run

The Super Run is a superhero-themed running event that raises funds for several nonprofits, including the American Association for Cancer Research, the Children’s Heart Foundation, and the Organization for Autism Research. By running in a Super Run and raising awareness for these causes, you become a hero. If you need an excuse to show off a fabulous cape, this race is your chance to do so!

Tough Mudder

Tough Mudder hosts events all over the country that push participants to their limits. It doesn’t matter where you’re at in your fitness journey—simply choose the race length and the number of obstacles you want to face. Additionally, you can fundraise for a charity of your choice. If you’re up for a challenge (and you don’t mind getting a little dirty), the Tough Mudder is the race for you.
