7 Reasons Why Anxiety Is Important In Our Lives

If you feel anxiety is holding you back from living the life you desire, consider it a good thing. Because that feeling can actually lift you up instead of bring you down. Here are 7 reasons why anxiety can be an important and useful part of your life that serves to protect you, support you and make your life better.

1.It helps us to avoid danger

Anxiety is a response to potential threats, including threats that we cannot see or feel but may exist nonetheless. For example, if you are walking down a dark street at night and are suddenly confronted by a stranger who demands your wallet, you will likely experience an immediate feeling of anxiety.

Your heart rate increases, your muscles tense up, and you may begin to sweat as your body prepares itself to fight or flee from this perceived threat. You do not know whether this person has a gun or if he is going to hurt you. However, your brain assumes that there is some sort of danger present and signals your body to respond accordingly so that it can protect itself from harm. Without anxiety we would not be able to survive in such a dangerous world!

2.It gives us a sense of control over our lives

Anxiety can feel like a prison, but it's actually a way to give us a sense of control over our lives.

When you're anxious, your brain is telling you that something feels out of place. You might be anxious about something in the future—like an upcoming exam or interview—or about something that happened in the past. It's almost like your brain is screaming “Help! Something doesn't feel right!” and then your body responds with stress, which makes you feel very uncomfortable.

But this discomfort isn't just an annoyance; it's actually helping you make better decisions for yourself. Research shows that when people are anxious about something, they tend to make better choices because their brains are more alert and focused on what is happening around them. So next time anxiety starts creeping in, try not to fight it—even though it may feel overwhelming at first—and instead use your anxiety as a tool to help guide you through life!

3.It guides us towards goals and aspirations

Anxiety guides us towards goals and aspirations. It's that little voice in your head that tells you to get up off the couch and get things done. It's the emotion that pushes you to try new things because you want to improve yourself and become better at what you do.

It makes us feel stressed about deadlines because we want to do well on our work, not just for ourselves but for others as well.Anxiety can make us feel nervous about social situations; however, it can also make us more sociable because we are more aware of how other people may perceive us.

This social sensitivity leads us towards making connections with others by reaching out to them in ways we may not have otherwise done if we weren't anxious about how they would react towards us or whether they would accept our advances toward them or not.

4.It gives us the motivation to take action

Anxiety is a motivator. It's a motivator that pushes us to take action and do things that we might not otherwise have done. It's the feeling you get when you're about to go up on stage and give a speech, or when you're about to ask someone out for the first time. It is what forces us to confront our fears and do things that make us uncomfortable.

It can be debilitating, overwhelming, and crippling—but it can also be beneficial. Anxiety is a part of who we are as human beings. It is not something that should be pushed away or ignored. Rather,  it is something that needs to be embraced and used as motivation.

5.It makes us feel better about ourselves when we accomplish something difficult or challenging

When we are anxious, we often feel like there is a lot of pressure on us to do well. In these situations, anxiety can be a good thing because it makes us work harder than we normally would. When we work harder and accomplish more than we thought possible, this can lead to feelings of pride and accomplishment.

Anxiety can also make us feel better about ourselves when we have done something difficult or challenging because it has made us stronger and more capable than before. We may have been afraid of something before, but now that we have faced it head-on, we know that we are capable of handling difficult situations in the future.

6.You will become creative

While it can be debilitating, it can also be a source of inspiration. In fact, there are several ways that anxiety can make you more creative.

When you're feeling anxious, you're paying attention to everything around you — both the people and the environment. This heightened awareness can lead to more insights about your surroundings, which could then lead to new ideas for projects or solutions for problems.

Furthermore, anxiety is a motivator that keeps people moving forward on their goals even when there are obstacles in their way. It pushes them out of their comfort zone and forces them to try new things they otherwise wouldn't have done if they weren't feeling anxious!

7. Anxiety motivates people to work hard and succeed

If you're feeling anxious, that's a sign that you're pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone. And that's a very good thing! Anxiety is often a sign of growth, meaning that if you're feeling anxious, it means you're doing something new and challenging yourself. If you weren't being challenged, you wouldn't be feeling anxious.

So if you're feeling anxious, that means that your brain is telling you “Hey! You're doing something new here!” and trying to help you do well by encouraging the release of stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline.

Anxiety is not a bad thing. It alerts us of things that may come in the future and functions to keep us safe. It is a natural response to a stressful situation and getting anxious isn't going to make anything worse. The problem arises when our anxiety becomes an irrational fear and we do not have control over it.
