8 New Tricks That You Can Teach To Your Pets
You probably already know that your pet can be trained in a variety of ways, but did you know there is always room for improvement? Here are 8 new tricks to teach your pets.
1. How to sit
Teaching your dog to sit is one of the most important tricks you can teach them. It's also one of the first things you should teach them. Why? Because teaching them to sit will help you get their attention quickly, and it will also help you train other important commands. You can use “sit” as a reward for good behavior, or as a way to teach them that they need to wait before they get something they want.
Start off by holding out a treat in front of your puppy's nose, so that they have to look up at it in order to see it clearly. Then slowly move the treat down toward their nose and back up again until they follow it with their head (i.e., they sit). If this doesn't work after a few tries try moving the treat closer toward their nose each time before bringing it back up again until eventually they follow it with their head as soon as you start moving the treat down toward their face!
2. How to shake hands
The first thing you need to do is get your pet excited about the idea of shaking hands. This might be easier said than done, so don't be discouraged if it takes some time.
If possible, try getting them excited by taking them out for a walk or playing with them in another way that they enjoy. Once they are excited, start teaching them the steps of shaking hands by taking their paw and placing it against yours. Make sure that the palm of your hand faces up so that when you shake hands with them, the top of their paw will rest on top of yours and not underneath it.
As soon as you've placed their paw on top of yours, move your hand up and down slowly while saying “shake.” Repeat this process several times until they start copying what you're doing. Once they've picked up on this step, try adding another one where they place both paws on top of yours while saying “shake” again!
3. How to wave “hello” and “goodbye”

Or maybe you just want to make sure that your pet knows when it's time for them to go home. Whatever the case may be, learning how to wave “hello” and “goodbye” is a great way for both of you to stay in touch.
To wave hello or goodbye, start with your hand held out in front of you at a 90-degree angle with your fingertips pointing upwards. Then move your hand back and forth two times. This will let your pet know that it's time for them to come inside or that they can go outside if they're already inside.
You can also use this technique as a greeting when coming home from work so that they know it's safe for them to come out from wherever they've been hiding!
4. How to high-five
This is done by holding their paw out in front of them and making sure they're looking at it. Then, gently tap their paw with yours, so that they feel the sensation and associate the action with something positive (a treat). Repeat this process over and over again until they understand what you're doing. Then move on to teaching them how to give a high-five back!
You'll want to start by holding out your hand and encouraging your pet to do the same thing—then make sure they're looking at yours as well as theirs before gently tapping their paw with yours again.
