Africa, an enchanted place of excitement and adventure. If you’ve never taken the chance to explore the continent of Africa, it’s certainly worth considering booking a ticket this year. There are so many different places to explore, locations to see and things to do. Africa is filled to the brim with possibilities but don’t take our word for it. Head over there yourself on one of the many exciting holiday adventures that you can book right now. We suggest that if this is your first time going to Africa, then you head to the south of the continent. While not quite as dangerous or indeed daring there are plenty of things to do and reasons to love this part of the world. Here are just a few of the excellent, amazing adventures you can explore for yourself right here.
Soar Through The Canopies
If you head, to South Africa, we’re sure you’ll probably want to catch a glimpse of a few monkeys swinging through the trees in the jungle. But have you ever thought about trying this for yourself and seeing how it feels? Well, while not quite the same experience, you can take a canopy tour. Here, you’ll be able to put on a hard hat and zipline through the trees of Africa, high in the wet jungles. It’s an amazing experience, and there are actual entire trails that you can explore for yourself here.
What does this involve? You’ll be given a hard hat and a harness. You can then climb up to the top of one of the zipline jungle routes where you’ll be clipped onto the line. Overlooking a fantastic few of lush, green forestry, it will be your choice whether you are ready to take a leap of faith or indeed the plunge.
A word of warning though, some of these ziplines go fast. How fast? Well, if you’re looking for a way to spot some wildlife, you might want to try something else. You could be soaring so rapidly through the forest that everything becomes a wild blur of green. Of course, there are slower adventures available where you will be able to pick up lots of little, unique details such as spotting a lizard climbing up a tree.
Jungle To Jungle

Or, if you are desperate to see some wildlife, you should definitely think about taking on one of the many safaris around South Africa. If you go on a safari vacation in Africa, you will be able to see all the African animals in their natural habitat including rare beasts such as the last of the White Rhino. White Rhino are incredibly rare due to poaching, and South Africa is the only place in the world where you can still see them in their natural habitat.
All the classic animal crackers are here too from elephants to zebras and giraffes. One of the best parts of going on a safari in South Africa is that you can actually tailor your adventure to your specific desires and interests. For instance, you might be interested in seeing the animals up close and personal. For that, you definitely want to include camping in your safari trip. You might be surprised to learn that you can actually camp in the wild with these animals. Though, it is worth making sure that you have a guide as this is the only way to ensure you are camping in a safe area.
Or, you might be more interested in seeing the animals at night. Everyone knows that most animals like lions are most active in the night. As such, if you want to make sure that you actually get to see these animals in action, you should explore their habitat at night and you can with after dark safaris. If you’re willing to pay more, you can certainly find yourself in the middle of a pitch black savanna with wild animals all around you. You can still see the animals too because these tours often provide night vision equipment to guarantee you will be able to spot the animals in the darkness.
Or, perhaps you are more interested in seeing the animals that prefer the waters of Africa. If you want to see the crocs and the hippos you can take a boat safari. Here, you’ll be able to get as close as possible to these creatures without it becoming dangerous. These trips can be slightly more expensive but are well worth it if you want something a little more different and exotic compared to the typical African safari.
Feeling adventurous? We suggest that you think about going kayaking in the swamps. Yes, it’s a little more dangerous, but you’ll certainly have bragging rights when you get back home. There are adventures like this available for people who want to get a little more close and personal with Africa’s most dangerous animals.
See Nature In Action
It’s also worth noting that the coast of Africa is a brilliant place to see leatherback and loggerhead turtles laying their eggs before they take the long journey towards the ocean. You’ve probably witnessed this at least once on a nature program. But nothing is quite like witnessing it in person, and you can at St. Lucia. If you don’t mind heading out at around 9 pm and staying there until early in the morning, you’re bound to see some of the large turtles and a turtle hatching.
Do be aware though that most turtles will not make it to the ocean. In fact, only one percent of turtles find their way to the water so this can be a heartbreaking tour for some people to witness.
Head To The Cango Caves
Finally, if your heart is still pumping fast, ready for one more adventure, you may want to visit the Cango Caves. This network of caves is one of the largest, oldest tourist attractions in South Africa and has always been very popular. It’s perfectly safe but if you are feeling brave, take the adventure tour. Here you’ll be taken through narrow passageways where the air will be squeezed right out of your lungs.
Have we convinced you to add South Africa to your bucket list? We don’t think you’ll regret booking a trip here and taking one of these amazing adventures yourself.
