Let's talk champagne.  Okay, well technically “sparkling wine” but I like the term champagne better so for my purposes and enjoyment that is what I am going to use.  Any wine that is sparkling to me is champagne, so it might not be technically correct but that's the way it is in my book!

I normally go for the Asti Spumante type sparkling wine/champagnes (whichever you prefer to call it!) and I do get a lot of grief because of it from people I am sharing my bottle with. Now I don't find asti spumante to be too sweet, but apparently there are a lot of people who do. I am not one to drink a whole bottle myself so what to do when nobody wants “the sweet stuff.”

Heritage Link Brands is a wine importer and producer and one of their products, Casa Valduga, which is a product of Brazil, instantly caught my attention.  It is a Brut Rose and it is PINK. I am not familiar with ever seeing a pink sparkling wine so of course I was immediately curious.  It doesn't take much apparently to reel me in!

I could not wait to try it.  I decided my special occasion was going to be that it was Sunday and opened it up before Sunday dinner.  It is definitely NOT sweet like what I am used to with my usual go to.  Nobody found it overly sweet.  Score!  No complaining about the sweetness like I usually hear!

I had fresh strawberries and blueberries that I had just picked up so I decided why the heck not and I threw some strawberries in my glass.  Apparently this looked like a good idea so others followed suit.  It gave the Casa Valduga a very nice taste, the fruit made it a bit sweeter but not a lot and I personally thought the fruit was a nice added touch  (plus eating the fruit later after it has soaked up some of the goodness is a real treat!).   It was a great addition to it and perfect for a hot summer day.

Of course, you don't need a special occasion to enjoy champagne/wine EVER in my book and I actually look forward to getting raspberries and throwing a couple of them next time I drink a bottle!

If you are tired of the same old champagne/sparkling wine and the same COLOR and want to mix it up a bit, Casa Valduga fits the bill perfectly!

I would be remiss if I did not mention the fact that Heritage Link Brands is Fair Trade Certified and Women Owned Brand certified which I think is wonderful!
