Winning Moves Games has some of the best kids' games on the market. They produce some of the most classic games we all remember from our childhood: Chutes & Ladders, Connect 4, Hi Ho! Cherry-O, Guess Who?, Candyland, Scrabble and Boggle just to name a few.
Guess Who? was one of the most requested games in my house when my kids were young. It was one of the few games I have saved to have around for the future when grandchildren, hopefully, are around to play children's games with one day.
You start with all the tabs on the board standing up, and each participant draws a card from the deck, but doesn't show that card to the other player. The same people are on the cards in the deck as in the pictures on the board tabs. Then, players take turns asking yes or no questions of the other player and putting the tabs down on their board until they think they can guess which card the other player has drawn from the deck.
For example, if I ask the other player if his person has red hair and he says, “No,” then I will look at the tabs containing pictures on my board and put down any of them that feature people with red hair. Attributes you can ask the opponent about include hair color, eye color, hat or no hat, hair or bald, man or woman.
My kids are a little old for this game, but they still like to play it from time to time. I may pull it out this evening and see if anyone fancies a game!
Hi Ho! Cherry-O is the game the kids always wanted to play while visiting their Mamaw and Papaw's house. Mamaw was a softie and always found a way to let the kids win. I was more interested in allowing them to have a good time while instilling a healthy concept of losing gracefully sometimes. My kids won most of the times they played with me, but sometimes I would win. At first, they acted mad but over time came to celebrate the game no matter which of us won.
Hi Ho! Cherry-O helps kids gain simple addition and subtraction skills in the context of a fun game atmosphere. They are learning without even realizing it!
Playing board and card games with my kids is one of the most enduring happy memories of when they were very small, for myself and Mamaw, as well as the kids.
Fish, Fish, Squish will appeal to children who crave or enjoy tactile experiences. Make your own fish using a mold and modeling dough and have fun getting to squish your opponents fishies!
Moose Caboose Four trains full of happy animals are chugging off on an adventure. The player who collects the most animal cards, by matching colors, wins the game!
Classic Upwords This classic game where players spell words by building on top of other words has been a family favorite since the 80's. The classic version is available now and will help older kids expand their spelling skills while having fun at the same time.
