GPS vehicle tracking devices are navigation tools, that indicate directions, mileage, velocity, world time, correct route to a destination, etc. Initially, they were developed to be used by military for tracking planes, ships and vehicles. But now, these devices have found application in consumer use too. People interested in hiking, sailing and fishing largely use these devices to keep safe and tracked during their expeditions. Let's know more about these devices.

How GPS vehicle tracking devices work?

These devices use satellite GPS to track exact location of a person. Satellite signals are transmitted in precise orbits, so that a user's exact location can be monitored. GPS receiver compares time signals transmitted by the satellite, thus calculating the satellite's distance from the person. After measuring distance from more satellites, the user's location can be seen, and the information is sent on the device's electronic map.

GPS receiver transmits signals from at least 3 satellites before the user's position is determined and movement is tracked. GPS vehicle tracking devices that use 4 or more satellites can transmit 3D position of the user, which is more accurate and precise. More information can be found out with these devices, such as the user's speed, track, distance to the destination, trip distance, bearing, temperature etc.

Are GPS vehicle tracking devices accurate?

Advanced devices are accurate, thanks to their parallel multi-channel designing. When activated, they quickly transmit signals to the satellites, while maintaining their quality. Only a few factors can affect their accuracy, such as computer bug or malfunctioning due to higher static levels.
