There's a new app-The Home Outside Palette App that I was recently given to review. At first I was skeptical about it because I've purchased apps for my computer in the past that were not easy to work with. But this app is very user friendly. My husband and I had a lot of fun planning our landscape. In the first couple of minutes we were able to put our house on the template. When we've used other programs it took us a lot longer. This program is not only for homeowners but can help out landscapers. I totally would recommend this app.

Ideal for homeowners to mock up ideas for their property, Home Outside Palette was developed as a tool for users to envision their dream garden. Now, JMMDS has added a host of powerful and user-friendly new features to help homeowners and professionals alike bring their landscape designs to life. For the first time, one app now offers all of the necessary tools for designing a landscape, across most major devices and platforms such as iPhone, iPad, Android tablets and smartphones. New features include:
Ability to import an image as your background
Multiple layers that can be turned off and on
Option to share completed designs on social media
Specialty Elements and Tools package, which includes Drawing and Measuring Tools and five additional palettes of brand-new elements: Shrubs, Perennials, Grasses, Containers, and Lighting (in-app purchase for $9.99)

“With these exciting new upgrades, the app is like having your garden in your pocket; anyone, anywhere will have the tools to design the landscape that they’ve always wanted,” said Julie Moir Messervy, principal of Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio.

Home Outside Palette allows users to select and place beautiful hand-drawn elements including trees, gardens, patios, hammocks, driveways, houses and sheds, as well as anything else you would ever need to design a property. The user-friendly interface lets you just tap, drag, and drop the desired elements onto your selected background, which can include graph paper or an uploaded photo. Once completed, the design can be emailed, shared through social media, or sent to Julie Moir Messervy and her Home Outside designers for their suggested design improvements.

To celebrate the new version of Home Outside Palette, the Julie Moir Messervy Design Studio will host an Ugly Garden Contest. Participants can submit a picture of their “ugly” garden by tagging #UglyGardenContest on Facebook or Twitter or emailing [email protected]. The top 10 participants with the ugliest gardens will be invited to design their dream garden using the new and improved Home Outside Palette app, and the public will vote on a winner. First prize wins a complimentary Home Outside Design service (valued at $1,500) by Julie Moir Messervy.
