Is Blogging still worth it?


Blogging has always been seen as a way to earn money via the internet. In reality, it is very easy to create a blog but more difficult to earn money from it, there is no doubt that you can earn money but you must be prepared to play the longer game.

The first blog was published in 1994 and ran for approximately 11 years. The purpose of any blog is to share information with others. Through this process, you can introduce people to multiple sites such as the latest inventions or your own business site. In fact, blogging is one of the best ways of driving traffic to any site.

As an added bonus, blogging is actually very easy to start. WordPress has a 96% share of the market and is the easiest one to start with. All you need to do is create an account with them and you can be up and running in minutes.

Is Blogging Still Worth It?

In short yes. Blogging is still an extremely effective way to drive people to your own website. There are billions of internet users and the average user will read 10 blog posts a day; that’s a lot of blogs that need to be created to cater to these reading needs.

You may also be surprised to learn that the blogging audience is one of the highest converting groups online. This means if your blog is interesting and relevant then your customers are likely to click through to your website and buy or to purchase through your affiliate links.

Either option will make you money.

The Long Game

However, the world of blogging is tough. There are thousands of blogs on the internet, some belonging to very high profile celebrities. It takes time to build a following and you need a following in order to direct people to your site or other income earning methods.

The problem is that writing a post or two every week is actually quite simple and not generally timeconsuming. But, by itself, it won’t be enough you need to promote your blog. The more awareness there is of your blog the more customers you’ll get.

If you need customers quickly you’re going to have to supplement your blog with marketing. But, if you’re happy to play the long game and take a couple of years to build a following then you can see massive results from very little effort. Of course, you need to consider what happens to the customer when they reach your blog and where they get directed to.

The Big Picture

Blogging is still a valuable tool to generate a following and build sales. But, you need to put this in context with your goals and the other methods of reaching potential customers. Social media and a content strategy will make your blogging more effective and reach a wider audience.

This means using all the channels open to you and tying your blog into as many of them as possible
