As a little girl I used to go fishing in small ponds and lakes in Washington to catch Rainbow Trout. Of course I didn't have the heart as a child to kill them so we let them go. Now that I am older I have boys who like to fish. I have a rule: If you catch it you put it back or eat it. Rule number two: you catch it, you clean it. There is just no point to killing something your not going to eat. Needless to say accidents happen but they now catch and release more often than not. The last time they brought back a fish to eat it was messy and they don't like cleaning them.
