Summer time is here and that mean lots and lots of Barbeque's. Before all that we want to celebrate fathers day, and what a better way to do that then have kids make him a DIY simple and easy BBQ.  And I know just how they can do that.  In The Raw sweeteners created a special Smoky Sweet BBQ Rub Recipe that kids can easily create at home as a great gift for dad, to help them kick their BBQ up a notch. With smoky sweet flavors and options for both a wet and dry rub, this recipe is extremely versatile –it can be used on everything from pork shoulder to chicken thighs to salmon fillets, to add flavor and a sweet and savory crust.

And simple enough for children of all ages to use,  and will make a great surprise for any dad. In The Raw is a family of sweeteners which includes Sugar In The Raw  Stevia In The Raw, Agave In The Raw, Monk Fruit In The Raw and now Sugar In The Raw Organic White. All of these rubs give off a different taste. We just used ours when my sister made her chicken wings, on her new smoker and they came out so good .  Great for anything you plan to throw on the grill or in the smoker.

In The Raw¢ç Smoky Sweet BBQ Rub

Ingredients:

¡¤         ¨ù cup smoked sweet paprika

¡¤         ¨ö cup Sugar In The Raw¢ç for a dry rub (or Agave In The Raw¢ç plus 2 tablespoons each of apple cider vinegar and extra virgin olive oil for a wet rub)

¡¤         2 tablespoons ground cumin

¡¤         2 tablespoons sea salt

¡¤         2 tablespoons ground black pepper

¡¤         1 tablespoon onion powder

¡¤         2 teaspoons garlic powder

Directions:

  1. In a medium bowl, stir to combine paprika, sugar (or agave, vinegar, and oil), cumin, salt, pepper, onion, and garlic.
  2. To use, evenly rub mixture over the surface of the meat. Place meat uncovered on a rack above a sheet pan in the refrigerator for at least 8 hours and up to 24 hours to allow the rub to dry out, ensuring a crisp, flavorful crust. Roast, bake, or grill meat as directed in individual recipes (note: do not cook the agave rub version at high heats, as it¡¯s more prone to burn).
  3. Store leftover dry rub in an airtight container at room temperature. For the agave rub, store in an airtight container in the fridge up to 6 weeks.

Culinary tip: For high heat grilling, stick with the traditional Sugar In The Raw¢ç. For baking at about 350¢ªF or grilling over indirect heat, try swapping in Agave In The Raw¢ç for an even sweeter, smoky flavor.
