MOBO Award Winner Releases Free Christmas Album for Loyal Fans

A MOBO Award-winning singer/songwriter is giving her legion of fans a festive treat this year, releasing an entire Christmas album for free. Rachel Kerr, a member of the world-renowned Grammy Association and famous for having performed with Brandy, Jeremiah and Kirk Franklin, has released an EP packed with festive favourites with Rachel’s own twist and an original song. It is available to download for free to thank fans for their support throughout 2014. The release is also accompanied by festive music videos for ‘Hark the Herald’ and ‘First Noel’, available on YouTube.

The album, called ‘A Christmas Gift’ will be available to download from Rachel’s website, and the singer herself has encouraged her fans to make a donation to charity in lieu of paying for the music – in a bid to make this festive season a little brighter for everyone.

Rachel said in a note to fans on her website, “I can’t hug, talk to or physically connect with you all in the way I would so love to this Christmas, but to say thank for the years of belief, encouragement and support, I wanted to share my gift, my voice, with you. Nothing excites me more than the idea of my music being a part of your Christmas memories this year, and for the years to come.”

She adds, “Remember, tomorrow isn’t promised. Please bury the hatchet with your enemies, call that family member you haven’t spoken to for a long time, value yourself and love others. Let’s make this Christmas and New Year one to remember!”

The album will feature such classic tracks as ‘Little Drummer Boy’ and ‘Silent Night’, but also features an original song, ‘What I Want’. The song was written by Rachel and is an ode to relatives who have passed away – her Grandad and favourite Auntie, both of whom Rachel would have loved to spend Christmas with. The touching song is applicable to anyone spending Christmas without a loved one, and will offer much comfort during the festive season.

Rachel’s astonishing voice has led to her being personally invited to sing for President Bill Clinton, and to being picked up by the largest urban blog in the UK, SBTV. She has also made a name for herself on World Star Hip Hop – where a video of her singing an original song garnered 50,000 views in just 24 hours. Rachel’s star is on the rise – her infections melodies and cleverly written lyrics open to various interpretations have already seen her amass an army of fans, both in the UK and across the pond in the US.

The award-winning singer/songwriter aims to create music that inspires and brings hope to everyone. All of her songs carry a positive message, and there’s no better time to spread that positivity than during the festive season.
