Grilling season is in full effect! And that means having guest over for dinner and eating outside on the patio is just around the corner. But what do you bring with you do a dinner party?? Or serve? Having a good bottle or two on hand for guest is always a good thing. Or bringing a bottle with you to a dinner party is the perfect hostess gift. Santa Margherita Chianti Classico is a wonderful option for grilling season. This Chianti pairs well with braised and grilled meats, Tuscan cuisine, and rich, savory sauces like pasta dishes. In my opinion it's a year round wine you cannot go wrong with. Having a few bottles on hand is a wise choice because it goes with so many dishes.
Here are the Winemakers notes
Santa Margherita is renowned for its elegant and authentic Italian style. This Chianti Classico Riserva is a deep and dense ruby red coloring and offers aromas of very ripe black cherries and plums, then floral hints of gladiolus. An elegant and complex wine, the fruit and spice flavors shift to darker fruits and mellow herbal notes.
I really enjoyed the Santa Margherita Chianti Classico Riserva 2011. It's a very full body wine with lots of flavor. In my opinion it's a dry wine with long legs. The Chianti comes on strong but then mellows. It's a wonderful wine to have with a gourmet burger or steak on warm summer night. And in the winter it will go wonderfully with a chicken piccata or chicken parmesan.
If you are looking for a full body, dry, elegant but complex wine to add to your collection the Santa Margherita Chianti Classico Riserva 2011 would make a fabulous addition. There are so many meals you can pair this with or even a hearty appetizer.
