Science & Crafting—All In One Box For Loads of Fun!

As a child, I loved to craft and create things. In fact, I still love to do these things as an adult. And, I especially love to create things with my kids. Crafting and creating is a great way to spend time with your family. And, while creating things, it inspires their imaginations and their “thinking caps.”  It also can help take your mind off of everything else. But, where can we get some cool ideas? That's where Green Kid Crafts comes in!
Green Kid
Green Kid Crafts is a subscription-box company that provides boxes filled with science and craft projects for kids that are of the ages of 2 to 10 years. They have a really cool variety of themes. Some examples are “Amazing Animals,””Soaring into Flight,” and the “Volcanoes” box. According to their website, “Green Kid Crafts boxes are developed by teachers, crafty moms and STEAM experts (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) to support key developmental skills for kids ages 2-10+.” So, quite a bit of planning goes into these boxes to help create a truly enriching experience.

A Company That Cares & Truly Shows It

Another great thing about Green Kid Crafts is that they are truly “green”—they care about the environment and strive for sustainability. The company uses recycled materials in their boxes. They provide you with almost all the materials you'll need so you don't have to buy a pack of 100 of something you only need 1 of. And, Green Kid Crafts partners with OneTreePlanted so they can have one tree planted for every box purchased. Go here to see other ways they are a green company.

The Human Body Box

The box I had the opportunity to try was “The Human Body” box. And, I'd like to say that my children and I love it! Our box comes with 4 projects to choose from:

  • Organs of the Body,
  • The 5 Senses,
  • Model Lungs, and
  • Articulated Hand.

Below are pictures of our articulated hand, which demonstrate how the phalanges (bones of the fingers) move. The strings represent the tendons of the hand. The project directions also teach about metacarpals and carpals (other bones of the hand and wrist).

Now, these projects may sound complex, but they aren't. The instructions and educational information are easy to follow. The crafts and activities are fun to do. And, most importantly, the crafts do an EXCELLENT job of helping my children grasp a hands-on understanding of how parts of the body work. And, when we were done, my 8-year-old child said, “This is cool!”

Give Green Kid Crafts for Christmas

Green Kid Crafts would make an excellent Christmas gift for a child between the ages of 2 to10 years!  It also makes a great gift for birthdays and just for fun!!  What I like about this kind of gift is that it's educational in addition to being fun. And, it can provide an afternoon activity the family can do together! Go here to check out their shop and see all that they have to offer!  And, happy holidays!
