Stop and Drink the Flowers with St. Elder
Earlier this week I went on a walk at Green Cay Nature Center here in South Florida. It's a beautiful boardwalk with tons of birds a few alligators and plenty of flowered and trees! Of course when I say walk I should mention that it was at the pace of a Toddler so it was more of a pause and go meander. I love going this time of year though because all the flowers are in full bloom. The flower that caught me the most by surprise was the Elderberry Flowers. I had no idea that they grow locally (of course why wouldn't they? you can grow almost anything here). I recently also learned that Elderflowers can be used to make Liqueur! St. Elder is one such company that has perfected the Elderflower Liqueur.I was so intrigued by floral Liqueur I just had to try St. Elder. I know just how versatile Elderberries are so I had to see if this Elderflower Liqueur would be just as versatile! I certainly was not disappointed! St. Elder makes their liqueur in small batches. Each batch has a specific amount of extract from the Elderflower. Creating a one of a kind drink that works with almost anything from beer, wine or even bourbon.
You could enjoy St. Elder alone on ice as it is very smooth but you probably wouldn't want to drink it all the time straight for it is very very sweet and citrusy. Some recommendations for use of St. Elder are with Tequila, Bourbon or Prosecco. Of course there are plenty of yummy cocktail mixes just waiting to be explored!
