Kids Will Absolutely Love “The Little Spacecraft”
I have two granddaughters, so I'm always looking for any toy or book that teaches them lessons or just about life in general. We all know being a child in today's age can be pretty darn tough! I know I'm glad I grew up when I did. These kids have it harder than we did, or at least that is my opinion. I also believe that we should teach our kids to be self-confident and love themselves just the way they are. Thankfully, I have a book to help in that department! “The Little Spacecraft“, by Dr. Mom and illustrated by Shana Koppel, is a sweet book that teaches our kids a great life lesson. Reading them this book at night would certainly make for a great bedtime routine.
Sometimes when our kids are old enough to go off to school, they learn that the world isn't so nice after all. Unfortunately, that can begin to break down their fragile self-esteem and self-confidence. This is where we, as parents or grandparents (or peers), come in and intervene. “The Little Spacecraft” is actually about a little spacecraft named Berrie, who is told she is too small to ever get to the moon. That is her only dream in life! Imagine how crushed she felt when everyone kept telling her that she'd never get there. It all began in the toy store, where she waited for someone special to bring her home.
Berrie's Dream
Berrie's wish had come true (not the big dream to go to the moon). Maya, a little girl had seen Berrie in the toy store and decided she wanted to take her home. Just like kids at school can be mean, the toys in Maya's room weren't very nice to Berrie, especially when they heard her dream to go to the moon! They laughed and laughed and said that she was way too small. As a matter of fact, they already had a space rocket toy, so they didn't see the need for Berrie. Luckily, even though Berrie was small, she stood up for herself. As the story goes on, Berrie wins the toys over and they end up cheering her on. Does she ever get to the moon? I'm not telling! You'll have to get the book for yourself to find out.
So, why a story about Space? Well, it's very interesting. StellarNova and SpaceIL are putting out this story to raise awareness and excitement in children about space and the moon. As a matter of fact, SpaceIL is actually sending a lander to the moon in the next month! The reason they named the little spacecraft “Berrie”, is because the actual one is called Beresheet. This will be the first Israeli spacecraft to the moon.
