Wine for a Good Cause

I always have bottles of wine on hand just in case I get a last minute dinner invitation or unexpected company.  I hate to go somewhere empty-handed but sometimes either I am cutting it close and  just do not have time to stop off and grab a bottle of wine, or totally forgot and need something quick. Do you know there are different Wine Regions, that all produce a different tasting wine.

Terlato Wines has a great selection and I always am looking for a good wine to keep on hand.  Right now the wines that I keep on hand are a Chardonnay and a Cabernet Sauvignon because you never know which one you will need, red or white.  I find people have a preference to which wine they drink and want to make sure that if they prefer red that is what they are getting.

Jack’s House Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon has been my go to.  First, the wine is a great price and a percentage of the net proceeds from each bottle supports Jack’s House Foundation.   Jack and Barbara Nicklaus and the Terlato family partnered to create Jack’s House Foundation, a charitable organization focused on healthcare and education.  The Chardonnay is crisp and the Cabernet Sauvignon is rich and velvety.  You cannot go wrong with either variety.

I will let you in on another little secret about Chardonnay.  It is a great cooking wine.  I cannot tell you how many things I make that I add a splash (or two) to it.  It seems there is always a bottle of Chardonnay open in my house and it is a safe bet to give to anyone that you might not know what they prefer because if they do not drink the wine they most likely will use it in cooking.  People always say you don’t need to worry about what kind of Chardonnay you buy because you are only using it to cook but take it from me that is not the case at all.  First off, the alcohol burns down but the flavor remains so if you have a Chardonnay that does not taste good to drink, the food will not taste good either.  You do not want an off taste to your food and there are plenty of Chardonnays that I have found have an off taste or are harsh tasting.  This one is great and makes my food taste delicious, and like I said, a pretty safe bet if you are not sure of the preference of wine drinkers because Chardonnay is so versatile.

Especially in this season of parties and dinners and last minute gifts, it is a great idea to have some bottles of wine on hand for such occasions.  Plus, the fact that a portion of every bottle goes to Jack’s House Foundation makes it extra special.  You can check out the whole line of Terlato wines here and specifically Jack’s House wine here, and you can learn more about Jack’s House Foundation by clicking here.
