Dos and Don’ts of Face Care

After investing so much in your wardrobe (buying quality clothes, shoes and accessories), it makes sense to do likewise to your skin. Your skin plays an important role in your appearance, hence a good reason why you should prioritize skincare. And one aspect of your skin you need to shower with optimum care and attention is your face.

How do you care for your face? Some of us have certain face care routines we often adhere to, while some don't. For those who do, this article will help you determine if you are doing it right. For those who don't, this article will offer you an insight into effective skincare tips for a naturally beautiful face while listing some mistakes you should avoid.

Let’s get right into the thick of things!

Do’s:

  1. Stay hydrated

Want glowing skin like Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Selena Gomez, or Kyle Jenner? It doesn't start from the outside. Instead, it starts from the inside out. This means that you need to raise your water intake, not just for the sake of glowing skin but for your health in general.

Take 8 cups of water daily. If you stick by this recommendation, you will notice a huge transformation in your skin appearance. As a bonus, try to start your mornings by mixing a spoonful of honey into a lukewarm glass of water. Doing this doesn't only help keep the skin clean and clear, but it also boosts your immune system and helps improve digestion.

  1. Wear more Sunscreen

When you go out – especially on a sunny day—you leave your skin exposed to UV rays from the sun. Such exposure could result in skin issues like premature aging, skin cancer, etc. To protect your skin from the detrimental effects of UV rays, make it a habit of not leaving the house without some facial sunscreen on to prevent wrinkles, sun spots, loss of skin elasticity, and even skin cancer. A sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and above will promote skin hydration.

  1. Wash your face:

One of the best ways to care for your face is by washing it. And yes, washing your face helps rid it of dirt, oil, and other unwanted debris. Depending on your skin type, it might be good to subject your face to a good wash twice a day. This would involve using mild face wash products in the morning, and heavier products in the evening, as they can penetrate the skin and repair it while asleep.

After washing your face and applying the necessary makeup ( foundation, face primer, CC cream, etc) you can apply a Jelly lip mask for an enhanced appearance. The lip mask comes with features that can make your lips softer and plumper. Also, it's petrolatum and vegan-free.

Don’ts

Here are a few “don’ts” to take note of.

  1. Do you wash your face with ordinary soap? If you do, you need to stop it. Why? Such soap is considered too harsh for the skin on your face, which is pretty much more delicate than your body.
  2. Do you apply body creams on your face? Of course, it may seem like no big deal. After all, it is body cream, and your face is a part of your body, right? Well, it is. But one thing you don't know is that body creams are thicker and come with fragrances that might irritate your facial skin. Use moisturizers instead.
  3. Stop the act of popping or picking pimples or blemishes (if you do it). By engaging in this act, you end up spreading the bacteria in the pimple to other areas of your face, resulting in more pimples.

Conclusion

A face riddled with acne, eczema, rosacea (or other skin problems common with the face) will surely damage your self-esteem and raise your self-consciousness, which is pretty bad. To ensure that people admire your beautiful face and do not look away in disgust when they see you, always make it a habit to care for your face.
