Self-confidence is all about knowing your strengths, weaknesses and the things that make you unique. It’s knowing who you are as a person, how others perceive you and what motivates you to do certain things. However, many of us suffer from low self-esteem when we get depressed. No matter how much we try to make ourselves feel better, we keep going down further in the hole with our self-confidence. This article will give you some tips on how to deal with this problem.

1.Recognize where you’re good at

It might be hard to do this, especially if you have a negative view of yourself and your abilities. However, it is important that you do it so that you can focus on these areas instead of the negative ones.

You can start doing this by asking your friends or family members what they think are your strengths. They could tell you something about yourself that you never knew before, which will help build up your self-esteem and give you more confidence in yourself.

Another way is by doing an inventory of all the things that make up who you are — personality traits, likes and dislikes, skills/talents etc. Once again, ask others for their insights into these things so as not to end up compiling a list that has too many holes in it! Also remember to include personal qualities such as honesty and loyalty which are often overlooked but crucial nonetheless!

2. Build positive relationships

The importance of positive relationships has been well documented, and it can help you overcome low self-confidence. So, it is important to note that the more friends and family members that are supportive of your goals and dreams, the better off you will be. If you feel like no one cares about what happens in your life or how you feel, then it is possible for you to develop low self-esteem issues over time.

However, if you don't have any friends or family members with whom you feel comfortable, seek out a therapist or counselor to help build these relationships. You may also want to consider joining a support group for people with depression who are going through similar problems like yours.

The key is finding people who care about what happens in your life and who want to help you make changes for the better when needed.  

3. Learn to be assertive

When you are depressed, it’s easy to get stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, self-criticism and low self-esteem. It can be hard to feel confident enough to achieve your goals and make decisions that will help you get out of this downward spiral. But if you want to get out of it, learning how to be assertive is one of the first things that you need to do.

Being assertive means standing up for yourself and what you want without being aggressive or passive-aggressive towards other people. If you have low self-confidence when you are depressed, this can be a challenge because it is often easier to give into the demands of others than it is to stand up for yourself.

However, if you want to move forward in life and live happily again then you need to learn how to be more assertive so that others respect your needs as well as theirs. 

4. Be kind to yourself

This may seem like an obvious solution, but when you are depressed, it is easy to lose sight of this very simple idea. If you have low self-confidence when you’re depressed, it means that your self-esteem has suffered a blow and it will take time for it to recover. You have just suffered from a major loss, so don’t expect things to bounce back immediately.

Even when you don’t feel any better yet, try not judging yourself too harshly or beating yourself up over past mistakes that led to the current situation.

It is also important not to compare yourself with other people who seem to be doing better than you at this point in time. Comparing yourself with others is just going to make things worse because no matter what they are doing right now, there was a time when they were where you are now and they probably felt just as bad as you do now.

More importantly, when dealing with low self-confidence when you're depressed, don't try to measure yourself against other people's achievements because everybody has different strengths and weaknesses, which means that none of us can compete against each other on equal terms.

5. Give yourself a challenge

If you're feeling low self-confidence when you're depressed, it's important to give yourself a challenge. It could be something as simple as getting out of bed and taking a shower or going for a walk. Or it could be more complicated, like giving yourself the task of writing a poem or cooking a meal.

It is important to note that challenges aren't just about facing fears. They can also help boost your mood. By tackling something new, you'll feel more confident in your abilities. And while some challenges may be harder than others, each one will make you stronger and more capable of dealing with other challenges in the future.

6. Start saying no

“No” is a powerful word. It can be used to express a simple refusal or an emphatic declaration of independence. It can also be used to express a polite request for something to stop happening, as in “No, thank you.”

The word “no” is not always negative, but it's often perceived that way. When you're feeling depressed, everything seems more complicated and challenging than usual. You might feel like saying no all the time — even when it's something you want to do or something that would help you feel better.

Some people avoid saying no because they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. But sometimes being too nice can actually hurt people more than if you were honest about your feelings or needs.

When you're depressed, it's important to learn how to say no without guilt or shame. So that, you can protect yourself from situations that aren't good for you right now or set boundaries with people who are harmful or toxic in your life.

7. Watch encouraging videos

One of the best ways to remind yourself what you're capable of is by watching videos that feature people who have succeeded despite their own challenges. When we see other people succeed in spite of their struggles, we realize that we can do the same. It's also important to note that when we watch others who have suffered from depression or anxiety talk about how they've overcome their fears and found success, it gives us hope for our own futures as well.

The good news is that there are lots of videos out there—from YouTube channels like “The Happiness Project” and “TED Talks” to inspirational quotes on Instagram—that can lift your spirits and help you work through those moments when depression makes everything seem hopeless. Find something uplifting and watch it whenever you need a boost!

If you are struggling with self-confidence while depressed, it is important to remember that you are not alone. Feeling low self-esteem and self-confidence when depressed is certainly understandable, because depression already leaves you feeling bad about yourself. However, it's important to know that it's okay to not be okay. These are the times that you should take extra care of yourself and your mental health. Don't give up, don't be afraid to reach out for help, and don't ever think you are alone in this battle. That might sound cliché, but sometimes clichés are true.
